Maya has taught acting and performance making at different institutions of higher education. She taught for several years in the National School of Drama and then moved to Shiv Nadar University where she designed and taught a post graduate diploma programme TEST - Theatre for Education and Social Transformation. Subsequently she was visiting faculty at Ashoka University. Alongside she has led theatre workshops for various institutions including Tata Institute of Social Sciences, Mumbai, Rangashankara, Bangalore, Srishti School of Design and Technology, Bangalore, among others.

During the lockdown she was invited to give guest lectures in universities and colleges in India and the USA
